My Story

William started running competitively when he was a young 12 years of age thanks "extra push" from his mom & dad, Assistant Principal Paul Prince, and Phys. Ed. Teacher Mike Wilson.

He ran for his school and home town Carthage in cross country and track all through junior high and high school. In college, he ran for East Texas Baptist University and was runner of the year for the team all 3 years, then seeking to further his education and challenges, he transferred to the University of Texas at Tyler and went on to win his first team conference championships in the American Southwest Division III conference as the 5th man. He wanted to be on a team that really wanted to work hard and race.  He felt he had more knowledge to gain and his competitive spirit, pulling him away from ETBU.

After finishing his undergrad he saved enough money to buy a road bike bike with a purpose of commuting. He ended up joining in on a few Tyler Bicycle Club group rides for cross training.. He got connected to a few triathletes and joined the original East Texas Triathletes Club, while still trying to make it as a runner, running as much as 70-90 miles per week.  He slowly started dabbling in triathlons occasionally and made serious commitment to do his best in the sport in 2008. He is a 2009-2012, 2014 USAT All American and an Ironman All World Athlete going into 2015.

William has recently graduated with his M.B.A. degree from TAMU-Commerce in 2012 with an emphasis in marketing. He current is the Assistant Track & Field and Cross Country Coach at Bishop T.K. Gorman in Tyler, Texas. He is also coaching a handful of endurance athletes.  William's desire is to be the best - Christian, Husband, Father, Friend and Coach he can be. He gives praise to his Lord for all his success and failures.

Fast forward into 2015, William is married to his beautiful Wife Calley, with her son Rylan, and Evan, their 1 year old.
